Expert reviews 2
A freeride boot for anyone who wants an 8–10/10 stiff boot but can't stretch to that price bracket. It's on the stiff side without being extremely stiff. The reviewer could carve deeper and harder than in their reference boot, but it was worse for short, sharp turns at low speed. Heel hold is excellent, with almost no lift. Genuinely medium width, true to size.

Good
- ✓Reasonably priced for a stiff boot
- ✓Lets you push carves deeper and harder
- ✓Excellent heel hold with almost no lift
- ✓True to size and genuinely medium width, so it suits a normal foot
- ✓Average instep pressure, so a high instep is no problem
Not so good
- —Worse for short, sharp turns at low speed
- —Not forgiving for beginners
Traditional lacing plus an ankle BOA gives this boot an enormous adjustment range. It's a particularly good combination if you have heel-hold problems but don't want to give up adjustability. A rigid plastic spine, a rubbery tongue that resists collapsing, and a bit of ankle articulation together keep it close to its original flex even after 40+ days. The toe box is on the wide side.

Good
- ✓Traditional lace plus ankle BOA gives an enormous adjustment range
- ✓Stays close to its original flex even after 40+ days — excellent shape retention
- ✓Wide toe box
- ✓Rubber wrapped around the whole toe makes it durable
- ✓Quick response for a traditional lace boot
Not so good
- —Slower to put on than a dual BOA
- —A bit tight for E widths, so heat moulding is needed
- —Once it packs out, the heel needs a little foam reinforcement
