A high-end boot with two BOA dials that let you tighten above and below the ankle completely independently. That freedom — loose up top, tight below — is the whole point of this boot. The trade-off is that J-bars are the only thing wrapping your ankle, so it won't suit you if you have slim ankles and want a snug hold. Over the past few years Burton has leaned toward first-day comfort over durability.

Good
- ✓Upper and lower tighten completely separately, so you can dial it in freely
- ✓True to size on the Brannock scale and accommodates regular to wide feet
- ✓You don't have to overtighten — your foot flexes naturally and you keep control of the board
- ✓Durable enough to handle well over 100 days
Not so good
- —J-bars are the only ankle wrap, so slim ankles will feel loose
- —Not as tough as older generations — the price of that first-day comfort
- —Very expensive
