Pat Moore's signature board is an extremely hard, aggressive freeride and carving deck built on traditional full camber. Its powerful pop, stability and deep carving performance are unmatched, but it's completely unsuitable for freestyle technique or beginner and intermediate riders. It's a board for power riders with top-level skill and strong legs only.
Base shape (camber)
Camber
An old-school full camber construction with a traditional camber arch from contact point to contact point. The camber amount is very high, so it provides powerful pop and rebound with minimal loading, and it compresses automatically on rollers then springs back hard.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
An extremely hard, uniform flex. There's only slight give near the contact points just before the tip and tail kick up; overall it keeps a very even, stiff flex. Torsional flex is almost nil, so steering by twisting the ankles is impossible — you have to drive it with your hips and full body weight. Buttering, pressing and rail tricks are effectively impossible.
Where it shines
Who it suits
An extremely strong flex, torsional resistance and powerful camber rebound make this an advanced-riders-only deck. It demands high riding power and skill and can be dangerous for beginners and intermediates.
Good
- ✓Traditional camber's powerful pop, snap and drive provide excellent height and distance off jumps
- ✓Very high stability and damping allow a ride with no deflection at speed or on landing
- ✓Deep carves produce edge grip and turning power strong enough to dig a deep trench in the snow
- ✓It generates powerful rebound from minimal loading, delivering excellent performance on rollers and large jumps
Not so good
- —The extremely hard flex makes freestyle techniques such as buttering, pressing and rail tricks very difficult
- —On small and medium jumps it can overload the lip and become dangerous — its character is close to large-jump-only
- —The stiff torsional flex makes it very hard for beginners and intermediates to handle and extremely physically taxing
- —It has a very narrow user range, unsuitable for most ordinary riders
