Expert reviews 1
An upper-tier freeride board that puts directional camber on a tapered directional shape. Speed rates 5/5 and powder 4/5, specialising it for descending untracked snow at speed, and its damping and pop are clearly better than the standard Flagship. It's very stiff, though, which lowers its versatility, and its 23.6-inch reference stance is too wide for riders with smaller feet.
Base shape (camber)
Directional camber
A freeride shape laying directional camber onto a tapered directional. It's a higher-end model with damping and pop raised over the standard flagship, and the reference stance is set very wide at 23.6 inches.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
Very stiff with strong pop. Despite the aggressive flex it's surprisingly forgiving, though versatility is reduced accordingly.
Where it shines
Who it suits
A directional freeride board for untracked snow and high-speed descents. Intermediates and up can ride it, but you have to handle a very stiff flex and a wide reference stance — for boots in size 8–9 that stance is demanding.
Good
- ✓Top-tier speed (5/5)
- ✓Excellent powder performance (4/5)
- ✓Good base glide (4.5/5)
- ✓Very stiff with strong pop, and forgiving for that flex — clearly better all-round performance than the previous Ultra Flagship
Not so good
- —Jibbing is impossible (1/5)
- —The 23.6-inch reference stance is very wide and demanding for riders with smaller feet
- —Excessively stiff, which reduces versatility
- —The reviewer questions the durability of the bamboo sidewalls
