The Ride Smokescreen is an intermediate all-mountain board with directional hybrid camber, providing excellent damping performance and appropriate pop but somewhat lacking stability on rough snow. Better boards of the same class exist in Ride's lineup, such as the Moderator and Shadowban, which weakens its relative positioning. It's worth considering for intermediate all-mountain riders on a limited budget, but reviewing other boards in the same lineup first is recommended.

Hybrid camber
Ride's Directional Standard Camber profile has camber centred underfoot with a long rocker section at the nose and a short one at the tail. The camber zone provides pop and drive, while the nose and tail rocker improve ease of turn entry and exit and powder float.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
Slightly harder than medium and stiffer than expected; the nose and tail flex similarly to the centre, so it's consistently stiff overall. Foot steering takes some force and buttering meets resistance.

Who it suits
A board designed for intermediates, suiting those who want to improve and ride all-mountain with a freeride focus. For beginners it's somewhat stiff, and advanced riders may find stability lacking.
Good
- ✓Excellent damping performance means micro-vibration is barely felt even on hard snow
- ✓It provides stable pop and spring feel off side hits and terrain features
- ✓Pop occurs naturally after butter moves, easing spin-outs
- ✓Excellent carving performance on soft snow with fast edge-to-edge transitions
Not so good
- —It's unstable and tends to bounce on bumpy snow (push piles, chopped-up snow)
- —It lacks differentiation from similar boards in Ride's lineup such as the Moderator and Shadowban
