The Nitro Optisym is a board suited to intermediate-to-advanced riders who enjoy park and all-mountain together, with a camber-based hybrid profile. It shows its worth in freestyle riding such as park, buttering and side hits on soft snow, but insufficient damping makes hard, frozen snow considerably uncomfortable. Despite the asymmetrical construction, heel-edge response doesn't differ much from a normal board, so it suits riders wanting all-round freestyle riding more than those with high expectations of the asymmetry.

Hybrid camber
Nitro's 'Cam Out' camber profile keeps traditional camber from between the feet out past the inserts, with rocker applied at the nose and tail tips. The camber section provides drive, pop and stability, while the rocker sections add float and ease of turn entry and exit.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
A medium flex overall, but slightly soft through the centre between the feet with somewhat stiffer nose and tail. Torsional flex is similar to the centre flex, so foot steering isn't difficult. Overall it has a lively character with damping on the weaker side.

Who it suits
A board for intermediate to advanced park riders; comparatively stiff nose and tail suit riders with a degree of skill rather than beginners, targeting those who mix park with all-mountain riding.
Good
- ✓It delivers excellent pop and stability in the park, and the stiff nose and tail flex gives good ollie spring with stable jump takeoffs and landings
- ✓The soft section between the feet provides a cradle effect during rail slides, easing sliding tricks such as boardslides and frontboards
- ✓When buttering, the camber-to-rocker transition point acts as a hinge, making the spin out after loading happen naturally
- ✓It performs respectably in carving and all-mountain riding in soft snow conditions
Not so good
- —Insufficient damping transmits vibration severely up to the knees on hard, frozen snow, with bad chatter
- —The asymmetrical character isn't distinctly noticeable in practice, making heelside edge response slow and the board's asymmetry hard to fully exploit
- —Rail presses toward the tail and nose need more force than other soft boards
