The Nidecker Blade Plus is an extremely stiff, aggressive carving-only deck for full-body carvers, with explosive responsiveness and powerful drive from traditional camber and a large amount of carbon as its core strengths. That said, near-absent damping means severe vibration and impact on rough snow, and it's recommended only to advanced carvers with the speed and strength to match. It isn't suitable for the majority of ordinary riders, but for riders pursuing a full-body carving style it can be an outstanding choice.
Base shape (camber)
Camber
A traditional camber profile with an arched camber from contact point to contact point. The nose contact point is somewhat extended, giving a distinctive characteristic where it feels slightly flat or micro-rockered under load. It provides strong load, pop, snap and drive.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
A very stiff board using a large amount of carbon fibre. It's hard from nose to tail with almost no torsional flex. It's plank-like in stiffness and aggression, and snap only appears when you load the camber hard.
Where it shines
Who it suits
A very rigid, aggressive flex makes speed and strength essential, demanding high-angle carving and a full-body riding style. It suits only a very small fraction of riders — full-body carvers — and isn't right for ordinary riders.
Good
- ✓Powerful pop, snap and drive from traditional camber give it outstanding carving performance, etching deep, aggressive trenches
- ✓A carbon fibre build gives it high energy transfer efficiency, returning more response than the force you put in
- ✓The locked-into-the-edge feel is excellent, providing powerful lock-in that lets you lay your whole body over in fast, wide carves
Not so good
- —Low vibration damping transmits severe impact and vibration to the feet and lower body on ice, death cookies and rough snow
- —The nose contact point flaps during riding, transmitting shock waves to the front foot
- —Speed, strength and high-angle riding are essential, making it very hard for ordinary riders to handle
