The 2024/25 Salomon Assassin Pro is an all-mountain freestyle deck with greatly improved pop, edge hold and damping performance over the base model through a Rockout Camber profile and a strengthened flex. It can be used for multiple purposes spanning park, carving and powder, but its stiff setup suits intermediate and above riders. For riders who felt the standard Assassin was lacking, this model gives a clear reason to upgrade to the Pro.
Base shape (camber)
Hybrid camber
Salomon's 'Rockout Camber' profile — a camber-based hybrid that keeps mellow camber underfoot with rocker applied from beyond the inserts toward the tip and tail. It maintains traditional camber's pop and drive while providing rocker's ease of turn initiation and powder float.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
Stiffer than middle, about two steps below a freeride plank. The tip and tail are noticeably stiff and torsional flex is responsive with strong snap. In butters and presses it delivers strong rebound rather than deep bending.
Where it shines
Who it suits
Stiffer than medium with quick response, it suits intermediate and above riders who know how to load the board properly. Engagement is demanding for beginners, so it isn't recommended for them. It's a model suited to power-oriented riders wanting all-mountain freestyle, or to riders who found the existing Assassin lacking.
Good
- ✓Improved edge hold enables stable carving even on firm snow and ice
- ✓Powerful pop and snap secure better-than-expected air off jumps and side hits
- ✓High damping performance reduces chatter at speed and lowers foot fatigue
- ✓Multi-purpose all-mountain utility with improved powder float
Not so good
- —A stiff tip and tail narrow the sweet spot and raise the difficulty of getting into presses/butters
- —Slower edge-to-edge transitions than the regular Assassin reduce quick responsiveness on small terrain
- —The board wraps less supply during rail/box jibbing, requiring active weight transfer
