The Nidecker Smoke is a stiff, powerful board for advanced riders who enjoy aggressive high-speed riding and carving. The nose rocker and camber combination gives it excellent snow penetration and stability, but very high torsional stiffness makes it completely unsuitable for tricks or buttering. It can be a wonderful choice for riders who enjoy speed and power and want to drive the board hard.

A 'Surfy Cam Rocker' profile with rocker at the nose and camber through the rest of the board. The nose rocker improves ease of turn entry and exit and powder float, while the camber section provides pop, snap and drive.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
A uniformly, consistently stiff flex with a single main flex point where the nose rocker meets the camber section. Torsional stiffness is extremely high, making it very rigid.
Where it shines
Who it suits
The board is very stiff with high torsional stiffness, so carving takes plenty of force and skill, suiting advanced riders who enjoy fast, aggressive riding. It doesn't fit riders who enjoy buttering and tricks or those with a relaxed style.
Good
- ✓Excellent stability at speed and a smooth ride feel let it punch through rough snow (wind chop, slush and so on)
- ✓With enough speed and space, it provides powerful carving grip and explosive power out of the tail
- ✓Excellent kinetic energy dispersion absorbs strong impacts well
Not so good
- —Low torsional flex makes fine carving with ankle steering difficult, and there's resistance in short, fast carve turns
- —Not suitable for techniques needing pop or flexibility, such as buttering and tricks
