The Nidecker Alpha APX is an all-mountain freestyle board characterised by a design weighted more toward all-mountain than freestyle. The nose rocker and camber combination makes carving performance and stability particularly excellent, and it damps rough snow well. It's strongly recommended for intermediate and above all-mountain riders who enjoy groomer carving, powder and jumps rather than jibbing.

Naidker's 'Surfy Cam Rocker' profile, with rocker at the nose and camber across the rest. It maintains camber's responsiveness and pop while the nose rocker secures ease of turn initiation and powder float.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
A flex slightly stiffer than medium. The nose is comparatively supple because of the rocker section, with a mild directional flex that stiffens slightly toward the tail. Torsional flex is highly responsive with strong snap, and it's clearly stiffer than the regular Alpha.
Where it shines
Who it suits
The APX version, stiffer than the standard Alpha, only reaches its full performance when you load the board actively. Intermediates and up can properly exploit the camber, while for beginners the response may be excessive.
Good
- ✓Excellent carving performance — a well-set sidecut provides strong grip and power from short, hard carves to relaxed long carves
- ✓Excellent vibration absorption — it effectively damps chatter even on rough snow and death cookies for stable riding
- ✓Nose rocker delivers excellent float in powder and makes turn entry easy
- ✓It provides consistent, predictable pop with stable air performance off side hits, rollers and jumps
Not so good
- —Jibbing performance is lacking — the tail's strong rebound and stiff character make it unsuitable for rail and box jibbing
- —Pop impact has limits — it shows its worth off larger jumps rather than small ones, and pop off small jumps isn't at an impressive level
