Expert reviews 1
A soft twin park board using Mervin's C3 profile, showing its strengths in buttering, jibbing and pressing thanks to a wide sweet spot and excellent torsional flex. Its soft character means clear limits at speed, on rough snow and on large jumps, though, so it best suits intermediate-and-below riders getting into park and building freestyle skills. Skilled riders need to know its limits and modulate their input, and anyone wanting more aggressive riding should consider upgrading.
Base shape (camber)
Hybrid camber
A Mervin C3 camber profile: a hybrid construction with micro reverse camber (rocker) between the feet, camber underfoot and flat sections toward the tips. It maintains camber's pop and drive while the flat sections ease turn entry and exit and widen the press sweet spot.
StiffnessHigher means stiffer
A soft twin park board. Flexible sweet spots form broadly at the tip and tail, while the C3 bend point (the centre) is comparatively stiff, so torsional flex can be used well. It's soft overall, so washout occurs at speed and on big jumps.
Where it shines
Who it suits
It suits intermediates entering the park and building skills. Beginners are unlikely to overpower it, so it can work for practising butters and presses, but overall it's designed for riders at the park-entry to early-intermediate stage. Clear limits at speed and on big jumps leave it short for advanced riders.
Good
- ✓Wide nose and tail sweet spots make locking in easy for butters, presses and jibs
- ✓High torsional flex makes ankle steering work well and edge engagement very easy
- ✓Magnetraction improves grip even on firm snow
- ✓A forgiving character that suits park beginners building their skills
Not so good
- —Severe vibration and chatter at speed or on rough snow transmit heavy impact to your body
- —The soft tips and tail wash out (overflex) if you apply excessive force
- —Insufficient pop and landing stability on medium-to-large jumps, with tail overflex problems
- —A somewhat soggy feel overall, with weaker snap and pop than peers
