25/26 season review
The Burton Custom is the longest-running directional all-mountain board in Burton's line, optimised for intermediate and advanced riders. Advanced technology including a Squeezebox core, 45-degree Carbon Highlights and Frostbite edges converges to deliver excellent performance on any terrain from park to powder.
It's a proven board that pro riders actually choose, and the safest, most dependable pick in Burton's line.
A closer look
These descriptions and scores are linked to this review. They may differ from manufacturer specifications.
Board profile
The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.
Directional camber
A directional shape (with a slightly longer nose), but a fully twin construction between the contact points. Two profile options are offered: classic camber and Flying V (a rocker hybrid). The camber has powerful, aggressive riding characteristics, while the Flying V is looser with excellent float.
How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.
No explicit flex figure is provided, but based on the 45-degree carbon highlights, Squeezebox core and strong pop and spring characteristics, it corresponds to a medium-hard flex.

High-performance camber, carbon inserts and powerful edge hold concentrate technical elements that suit intermediate and above riders, making it hard for beginners to handle.
What the review liked
- ✓The Squeezebox core improves pop and spring in the binding zone and naturally guides you to a centred position on landing
- ✓45-degree Carbon Highlights maximise edge hold, pop and responsiveness through turn transitions
- ✓Frostbite edges deliver strong grip even on icy hardpack
- ✓The WFO sintered base delivers fast speed straight out of the box
- ✓An all-mountain quiver killer capable of handling every kind of resort terrain from park to powder
What the review found lacking
- —Not suitable for beginners, so it's hard to recommend as a first board
- —Its flex and performance characteristics put it at a high price, which can be a burden on value grounds
