The Nidecker Gun isn't a daily driver for most riders — it's a long, stiff, aggressive board built for high-speed groomer carving and deep, low-angle powder. If you enjoy fast, wide-open turns and spending powder days surfing rather than slashing tight trees, it has a lot to offer, filling a very specific role extremely well.

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Directional camber

Directional camber on a tapered directional shape with the stance set back over 20mm. Even at 174 it isn't nearly as technical as you might expect, because there isn't as much board on the snow as its length suggests.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

7/10

Medium/stiff, and buttering is on the hard side.

Advanced

Advanced to expert — a long, stiff, aggressive board that isn't a daily driver for most riders.

What the review liked

  • ✓Built for high-speed groomer carving
  • ✓Made for deep, low-angle powder — surfing rather than slashing
  • ✓Even at 174 there isn't as much board on the snow as the length suggests, so it is easier to ride than expected
  • ✓Stable underfoot, with edge hold into hard snow

What the review found lacking

  • —Not the most versatile option in a quiver — it fills a very specific role
  • —Not for slashing tight trees
  • —Buttering is on the hard side

The Nidecker The Gun is a board specialised for high-speed carving and powder on wide open slopes. Carving spring feel and high-speed stability are excellent and float is good too, but a single size and weak handling in tight terrain make its purpose clearly divided.

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Directional camber

A directional camber running from the tail through the inserts, transitioning into rocker as it heads into a long, extended nose. The overall length is 174cm but actual snow contact is about 108cm, so it handles more easily than the numbers suggest.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

8/10

8 out of 10 — very stiff. The tail is extremely stiff while the nose is comparatively soft.

Advanced

Advanced to expert only. Skidded turns and technical handling are difficult, so it only fits riders who commit and drive it.

What the review liked

  • ✓Turns and carves are enjoyable, with outstanding spring feel coming out of a carve
  • ✓Excellent powder float despite a moderate width
  • ✓Excellent high-speed stability with almost no chatter on rough snow
  • ✓Excellent base glide as long as it's maintained

What the review found lacking

  • —Only one size, 174cm, makes it hard to access
  • —Performance falls off in moguls and tight trees
  • —Skidded turns and technical handling are difficult
  • —Unsuitable for switch, buttering and freestyle tricks
