#carving#powder

The Nitro Stiletto RS is a powder-specialised swallowtail deck with a Cam-Out camber profile, a rare board that provides powder float and carving performance at a high level at once. Despite the large 166 mid-wide size, pop is lively and it responds nimbly in tree lines, and excellent high-speed stability and damping make it strongly recommended to advanced freeriders who enjoy powder.

As a limited edition with limited quantities, interested riders need to decide quickly.

A closer look

These descriptions and scores are linked to this review. They may differ from manufacturer specifications.

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Hybrid camber

Nitro's 'Cam Out Camber' profile: traditional camber through the middle with rocker blended at the nose and tail tips. It provides camber's pop, snap and drive alongside rocker's easy input and powder float.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

7/10

An upper-intermediate or stiffer flex overall. The nose is comparatively soft, stiffening progressively from the camber section, while the tail is a touch loose because of the swallowtail cutout. Torsional stiffness is high, so ankle steering takes more force.

Rider levels suggested in the review

Advanced

Its large 166 mid-wide size, stiff torsional flex and swallowtail character demand skilled handling, targeting powder-chasing freeriders who know clearly what riding they want.

What the review liked

  • ✓It delivers excellent float and porpoising performance in powder
  • ✓It provides exceptionally good carving precision and power for a swallowtail board
  • ✓Despite the 166 size it shows light pop and surprising agility, allowing handling even in narrow tree lines
  • ✓Excellent high-speed stability and damping mean almost no vibration is transmitted
  • ✓It carries the rarity of a limited edition

What the review found lacking

  • —A stiff torsional flex means ankle steering takes more effort
  • —Aggressive carving is difficult at low speed and on low-angle terrain
  • —Risk of catching the inside of the swallowtail means care is needed when pressing both sides at once
  • —Only a single 166 size (mid-wide) is offered, leaving no choice
