25/26 season review

YouTubeRead source

The Public Display combines a flat-to-micro-rocker profile with an ample carbon construction, a board optimised for jibbing and freestyle that provides excellent pop and damping at once. It isn't simply a board you ride comfortably — it demands a degree of skill and calculated movement, and it's strongly recommended to intermediate and advanced riders pursuing bigger, more dynamic jibbing.

With Public's signature consistent performance and sensible technology, it's a wonderful option for riders who want distinctive character.

A closer look

These descriptions and scores are linked to this review. They may differ from manufacturer specifications.

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Hybrid rocker

Public's 'Frame Camber' profile: flat through the middle with micro rocker at the nose and tail tips. It provides ease of turn entry and exit and a press sweet spot, though grip on landings is somewhat weaker than traditional camber.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

5/10

A high carbon content gives excellent rebound and snap, though the overall flex is mid-level. Torsional flex is very quick to respond with strong snap. A Kevlar (aramid) impact plate also gives excellent vibration damping.

Intermediate · Advanced

Buttering and jibbing require calculated movement — simply leaning back won't produce the move — so a degree of skill is needed. It suits intermediate to advanced riders pushing their limits and wanting bigger jibs.

What the review liked

  • ✓Excellent pop, snap and fast rebound from the carbon construction provide powerful performance on side hits, ollies and jibs
  • ✓Kevlar (aramid) material gives it high damping and durability, allowing stable riding across varied snow such as slush and chop
  • ✓The flat-to-micro-rocker profile eases ankle steering, enabling everything from short, fast turns to medium carves
  • ✓Nose and tail press lock during jibbing is excellent, and it can be used stably on large jib features without clapping out

What the review found lacking

  • —Less grip on landing than traditional camber can make big-jump landings feel somewhat loose
  • —Bucking can occur on extremely frozen or rutted snow, making a knees-bent stance essential
