The Salomon HPS Sickstick is an all-mountain freestyle-focused board based on a tapered twin design and Rockout Camber, and its greatest strengths are a smooth, well-damped ride feel and high freestyle versatility across park, butters and carving. It suits intermediates and above rather than beginners, and it's especially recommended to riders who want to handle varied snow and terrain on one board.

A closer look

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Hybrid camber

Salomon's 'Rockout Camber' profile: positive camber zones underfoot plus a flat section between the feet form an overall camber body, with reverse camber (rocker) at the nose and tail tips — a camber-dominant hybrid construction.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

5/10

A mid flex balancing stability with pressability, with torsional flex on the slightly stiff side. There's more board material toward the nose, so nose presses come more easily than tail presses.

Rider levels suggested in the review

Intermediate · Advanced

A directional design and taper make it unsuitable for beginners — a board for intermediates and up or experienced riders.

What the review liked

  • ✓Very smooth overall with good damping, allowing stable, confident riding across varied snow
  • ✓Excellent freestyle versatility, responding broadly to styles including park, jibs, butters and flat tricks
  • ✓The camber body gives it excellent pop and edge hold, delivering stable performance in carving and high-speed riding too
  • ✓The tapered twin combined with reverse camber nose/tail adapts excellently to soft snow and powder settings

What the review found lacking

  • —The long nose needs care to avoid clipping when lapping park features such as rails
  • —10mm of taper makes switch riding feel slightly different from a standard twin
  • —Slight chatter can appear at the nose during high-speed heelside bombing
