The Rome Freaker 2025 is a directional twin based on Fusion Camber, delivering all-purpose performance spanning park, carving and all-mountain on the basis of powerful pop and snap plus improved edge hold. Snap, power, edge hold and initiation are all improved over the previous model, making it a fitting daily board for intermediate-to-advanced riders pursuing varied riding styles.

That said, high responsiveness demands precise technique, so it's optimised for riders who have built up some experience.

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Hybrid camber

Rome's Fusion camber profile — a hybrid camber maintaining traditional camber underfoot with micro rocker at the nose and tail tips. The underfoot camber secures pop, snap and drive, while the tip rocker eases turn entry and exit and widens the pressing and buttering sweet spot.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

6/10

A directional twin with a directional flex: one Omega bamboo rod at the nose and two at the tail make the nose comparatively soft and stiffen it progressively toward the tail. The flex difference between nose and tail isn't extreme, and torsional flex is responsive with strong spring.

Response is very quick and jibbing demands precise weight-centre movement, while high spring during tail presses can make it hard for beginners to handle. It suits intermediates and up who perform varied skills — jibbing, carving, jumping — and it also has the effect of correcting bad habits.

What the review liked

  • ✓Double bamboo rods in the tail provide high spring, delivering powerful pop and snap on jumps and presses
  • ✓A flex point ahead of the rear binding inserts makes the shift from medium to hard carving smooth, providing aggressive railing and improved edge hold
  • ✓It runs stably through mixed snow including ice, chop, corduroy and crust, with excellent chatter suppression
  • ✓A single-rod nose construction makes it easy to load weight and gives it a wide buttering sweet spot, easing nose pressing

What the review found lacking

  • —High responsiveness means precise weight transfer is needed during jibbing and pressing, making it demanding for riders short on technique
  • —Slight chatter can appear at the nose on rough snow, though most of it is absorbed before reaching the front foot
