The Rossignol After Hours is a directional freeride board with an 80% camber / 20% rocker hybrid profile and a 7/10 stiff flex, and its greatest strength is delivering high-speed stability and agile manoeuvrability at once. It delivers dependable performance across varied terrain including steeps, off-piste, powder and carving, and creative riding using natural terrain is possible too.

It's strongly recommended to advanced and expert freeriders, but it isn't suitable for park- or freestyle-focused riders.

A closer look

These descriptions and scores are linked to this review. They may differ from manufacturer specifications.

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Hybrid camber

Rossignol's Amptek Elite Rocker profile — a combination of roughly 80% positive camber and 20% rocker at the nose and tail. It maintains stability and precision while the rocker smoothly aids float and turn initiation.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

7/10

A stiff flex at 7 out of 10. Torsional flex is comparatively supple so quick twisting is possible, while stiff nose and tail deliver excellent high-speed stability and energy transfer. A break-in period is needed for it to perform fully.

Rider levels suggested in the review

Advanced

A hard 7/10 flex, a strongly directional freeride bent and demands for high-speed stability suit advanced to expert riders. A long break-in period and awkward switch riding make it unsuitable for beginners and intermediates.

What the review liked

  • ✓A freeride board that provides both excellent stability at speed and lively manoeuvrability
  • ✓Light Grip technology combined with positive camber delivers outstanding edge hold even in poor conditions such as ice
  • ✓It provides dependable all-round freeride performance across varied terrain including powder, steeps, off-piste and carving
  • ✓Directional setback and taper secure ample float in powder too

What the review found lacking

  • —It isn't suitable for park riding or freestyle performance such as buttering
  • —Switch riding feels awkward and uncomfortable, limiting bidirectional riding
  • —With 145 as the smallest size, there are no smaller size options for petite women riders
  • —The stiff flex needs a break-in period, and lighter riders may find initial adaptation difficult
