20/21 season review
This review does not directly cover the 26/27 model you are viewing. Specifications and ride feel may vary by season.
Gentemstick's Baby Mantaray 149 is an all-mountain carving board that provides excellent damping and a predictable, stable ride through a short-camber-based hybrid construction and a medium-to-stiff flex. It cruises smoothly with no deflection even at speed, letting upper-intermediate riders enjoy varied conditions from groomers to powder with confidence.
It's a board for riders who enjoy carving and all-mountain riding rather than park or tricks.

Hybrid camber
A hybrid camber construction with short camber between the bindings, a very flat and mellow tail, and a long extended nose.
How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.
A medium-to-stiff flex with an aggressive character, providing excellent damping and stability at speed.

Rider levels suggested in the review
Intermediate · Advanced
Predictable, consistent riding characteristics suit intermediates, while an aggressive flex and high-speed stability mean advanced riders can make full use of it too. For beginners the character is somewhat aggressive.
What the review liked
- ✓Excellent damping provides a smooth, stable ride even at speed and on bumpy snow
- ✓Highly predictable, consistent behaviour lets the rider ride aggressively with confidence
- ✓A 34 mm taper and a fast base give it excellent performance in powder and varied conditions
- ✓Once you set an edge it draws a long carve arc and holds it stably
What the review found lacking
- —Medium edge-to-edge speed makes it somewhat unsuited to park or trick riding that needs quick transitions
- —Its real performance in powder hasn't been sufficiently verified, so powder capability may be limited
