25/26 season review

#carving#powder

The Rome Women's Ravine is a women's-specific directional board with a hybrid profile combining nose rocker and tail camber, delivering powder float and all-mountain carving performance at once. Pop and edge grip toward the tail are particularly excellent, and enjoyable carving is possible on ordinary slopes as well as in powder.

Somewhat lacking nose pop is a disappointment, but it's a board worth recommending to intermediate and above women riders who enjoy powder all-mountain riding.

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Hybrid rocker

A hybrid construction: rocker at the nose secures powder float, while camber toward the back foot provides pop, power and control.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

6/10

Directional Hot Rods at the tail compensate for the tail stiffness and pop that a tapered board might lack, suggesting a medium to medium-hard flex suited to all-mountain riding overall.

Rider levels suggested in the review

Intermediate · Advanced

With excellent edge grip and pop and a focus on all-mountain and powder performance, it suits intermediate and above riders with a degree of skill.

What the review liked

  • ✓Fast edge-to-edge transitions with edge grip maintained well through to the tail
  • ✓Directional Hot Rods and a triaxial sidecut give it excellent tail pop and turn precision
  • ✓A 3D nose and nose rocker secure float in powder
  • ✓A setback position gives it high powder-riding capability

What the review found lacking

  • —Nose (nollie) direction pop is weaker than the tail
  • —Its powder-specialised design makes it unsuitable for dedicated park/freestyle riding
