26/27 · 25/26 season review
The Nidecker The Gun is a board specialised for high-speed carving and powder on wide open slopes. Carving spring feel and high-speed stability are excellent and float is good too, but a single size and weak handling in tight terrain make its purpose clearly divided.
A closer look

Board profile
The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.
Directional camber
A directional camber running from the tail through the inserts, transitioning into rocker as it heads into a long, extended nose. The overall length is 174cm but actual snow contact is about 108cm, so it handles more easily than the numbers suggest.
How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.
8 out of 10 — very stiff. The tail is extremely stiff while the nose is comparatively soft.

Advanced
Advanced to expert only. Skidded turns and technical handling are difficult, so it only fits riders who commit and drive it.
What the review liked
- ✓Turns and carves are enjoyable, with outstanding spring feel coming out of a carve
- ✓Excellent powder float despite a moderate width
- ✓Excellent high-speed stability with almost no chatter on rough snow
- ✓Excellent base glide as long as it's maintained
What the review found lacking
- —Only one size, 174cm, makes it hard to access
- —Performance falls off in moguls and tight trees
- —Skidded turns and technical handling are difficult
- —Unsuitable for switch, buttering and freestyle tricks
