25/26 season review

#carving

A soft entry-level freestyle board with a full banana (reverse camber) profile, specialised for butters, jibbing and catch-free riding. It suits beginners getting into snowboarding and learning fundamentals, but limits in stability, pop and carving make it hard to recommend to intermediate and above riders.

It sits in a position comparable to the Rome Mechanic, Ride Manic and Salomon Sight.

Board profile

The profile describes the curve of the board when viewed from the side.

Rocker

A full banana camber (reverse camber / rocker) profile that curves fully upward from the centre — the middle of the board sags down so the tip and tail lift naturally. It's GNU's most playful camber profile.

How stiff is it?Closer to 10 means stiffer. It does not mean better performance.

3/10

A soft flex — not a complete noodle, but well short of middle-of-the-road. Torsional flex is supple too, suiting butters and jibbing, though it tends to grow soggy over time.

New

A catch-free design gives beginners a very forgiving, easy riding experience, though full reverse camber raises the risk of forming bad habits. For intermediates and up, a lack of stability, pop and carving performance can make it a disappointing choice.

What the review liked

  • ✓Very forgiving for beginners, with a catch-free riding experience
  • ✓Butters, presses and jibbing come easily and intuitively
  • ✓Highly playful tips and tail suit riders getting into tricks
  • ✓Predictable, consistent ride characteristics

What the review found lacking

  • —Severe chatter and vibration at speed with insufficient stability
  • —Weak pop and rebound make it unsuitable for jumps over 25 feet
  • —Limited carving performance, with buckling from the midsection through the tail in hard turns
  • —The flex softens over time and performance declines
  • —It wheelies out easily on backseat landings
